While this blog is dedicated mostly to Clark, over the past year or so, you might have noticed a second shih tzu creeping in on his turf. That little fuzzball is Peri, aka, Tiny Dog.
Peri came into our house as a foster dog. She was rescued from a puppymill along with some other former brood and stud dogs. Woefully under socialized (and recovering from a pretty nasty case of flea dermatitis), she was not yet fit for adoption. If you so much as looked at her, she’d just shake and try to skitter away. After a week or so of hand feeding and TLC, she started to come around.
But the biggest help in Peri’s post-puppymill rehab was Clark. She immediately bonded with him; you could almost hear her say “LET ME LOVE YOU!” as she followed him around the house incessantly. Needless to say, she was a good fit for our household (even the old, grouchy Wheaten took a shine to her), so she went from foster to family in less than a month.
The shelter that saved Peri holds an annual run/walk. Last year at this time, Peri wasn’t ready for that big of an outing. But this year, she’s going to make her debut and I’m dedicating the walk to her. She’s an amazing, sassy, little gal.
So, tumblr friends—I know this particular organization may be very far away from you, but they do a great deal of good work for animals like Peri. And if you felt inclined to make a donation to our fundraising effort, it would truly be appreciated.
